Move to Knit|Knit to Move 2025

Collaboration with the choreographer Evangelia Kolyra

Move to Knit | Knit to Move is a collaborative workshop that explores intergenerational community engagement and connection. The workshops focus on finger knitting and movement exploration. Participants engaged in co-learning experiences that weave together personal stories and creative expression.

The workshop invited participants to explore movement and use the material forms they created in the creative workshops. Through playful tasks, participants express their embodied experiences, discovering how repetitive knitting motions can inspire full-body expression, creating a meditative rhythm that extends from fingertips to complete physical engagement.

Participants learned a finger knitting technique that utilised the power of co-learning experience between the participants and sharing stories embedded in the textile-making process. They experimented with creating new forms from wool yarn threads, drawing inspiration from artist Cecilia Vicuña's concept of knots as "gatherings of energy."

The workshops took place at Devonshire Square, Palmers Green and were organised by Arbeit Studios and Enfield Council.
